It probably will. It's a tried and true design. They are in the outback and bush in Africa and Australia. And have to perform in some of the worst conditions on this planet without fail. If they did fail it would probably mean you would die.

The qualifications that need to be met are to convey one or two people to and from the sight while hauling tools and parts ( can be met by any pickup on the market). These contracts are awarded yearly and have very little to due with the quality of the vehicle , just the best bottom line. And the best bottom line for a company buying hundreds of trucks isn't the best bottom line for you and me. Because ford will discount for the media play and advertisement. The only truck that matters at the oil sands is the cat 797. Which they rely on heavily. I've attached a picture of the oil sands maintenance shop that has a cat in the hanger and two Chevys, a ram, a ranger but no f series to be found in the employee parking lot. So it would seem to me that the employees after having to work with the f series don't even want one as a personal vehicle.
I have no photos but I can tell you for a FACT
The 90% of what they drive out on the oil sands in Alberta, are Fords, for either work, or personal use, I have a number of friends from highschool and former jobs, who are currently, or have worked out there, and by far, there are more FORDS doing the job then any chevy or dodge
Yeah dodge might get a better resale value, but your getting a butt ugly truck, with a ****ty front end, and a even ****ter tranny, and sometimes you get stuck with ****ty parts and hell a motor from time to time, it happens
My personal opinion, by whatever the hell makes you happy, but for what its worth, look at all the options before buying, its worthless what somebody else says and thinks, it means something what you say and think
Cheers!

Okay first of all dodge is the best looking truck sure it may not have as muc power, but ive heard in 2013 the heavy duty cummins is supposed to have 850ftlbs of torque. so it should be pretty awesome.

makes a lot of sense for someone that prefers a different brand to be on a Ford forum...

It's hard to defend Ford when the 6.o was a complete disaster. You can't blame it's numerous problems on epa regulations either considering that the major problems involved head studs, gaskets and oil coolers. The EGR was just ANOTHER problem they had. I don't know about you but but it seems odd to me that in the past 10 years Ford has used 4 completely different diesel engines while Chevy has used 1 basic platform and Dodge has used 2.
I thought his fixes were funny

I'm quoting the quote you quoted

The EGR caused all those problems lol. Can't be mad at a company striving for ingenuity, you've GOT to have ingenuity.

*Except for head studs, those really only stretched when tuned.

Also if you know more people with cummins using their trucks than you know people with powerstrokes that's hardly a valid comparison.

Don't get all cranked up over your brand loyalty. Your young and you don't have much experience. I buy a new personal truck every 2 years and pass the old trucks to my company. I too choose to drive ford as a personal vehicle bc of the feel and look of the truck ( my personal opinion is that no other truck is as down to earth and feels like a truck) but I can admit when there are better more reliable brands to be had. Gm has been hands down the most reliable, least cost to maintain and best all around performer of all my diesel trucks. But this new 2013 ram hd looks like it will give gm a slap in the face. I'm not sure about the new aisin 6 spd but they have been supplying Toyota with transmissions for decades and do manufacture many hd transmissions for busses and large heavy duty trucks. So if they say it will go 100k being abused by 850 ft/lbs of torque. I may need to give it a shot. The only thing I'm not liking is the late availability ( February delivery a at the soonest and that's probably not even in the cummins aisin combo) I will probably still endup buying the new 2013 super duty platinum. In 2 years when I need a new one I may be able to get the ram then.
