F-250 or F-350?

F-250 or F-350?
I bought a F-150 last year and it has served me extremely well. However if I end up having some changes in plans, I will need to get a 4WD vehicle. I also do some towing (a 7000 pound travel trailer), and am considering upgrading from the travel trailer to a truck camper for better boondocking.
What I'm wondering is, what is the advantage over a F-250 over just getting a one-ton? I've seen the price difference between the models go to only a couple thousand in some places.

the only difference that I know of, is that the 350's have a bit stiffer suspension and have a higher tow rating, how often you tow will determine what engine would work best, what year 250's or 350's are you looking at getting? if you tow a lot, I would suggest a diesel.

Dodge+Ford = always ready
f250 would be best for you. easier parking, and maneuvering the trailer into camping spots. the only difference with the f350, like driveak said, is the suspension and the ability to tow a little more. to be the f250 is a better all around truck for the average person who does average towing. now if you had a 30ft+ 5th wheel and did 500 mile vacations every month id highly suggest the f350. ofcourse get a diesel. i know i wouldn't wana try parking a full sized diesel f350 in town lol.

The f350 has a Dana 80 rear end stiffer suspension taller blocks if I'm not mistaken the tranny is stronger and usually lower gears while the f250 has either a Dana 60 or Dana 70 rear end can't remember witch the 350 srw is what I have and don't have any problems pulling anything or parking for that matter just takes some getting used to and a little practice

The F250/350 in SRW are almost identical (in stock configuration), except for a stiffer suspension set-up in the 350 for the added payload. The F350 in DRW will have a different set-up with gearing. The transmissions on the trucks are the same, it is based on what motor package you purchase.

There has yet to be year specified. On the 05-07's, the only difference between the 250 and the SRW 350's, are bigger brakes, add-a-leaf, and badges. On the 2011's, you have a choice of different gearing, the axles and housings are different, then of course the add-a-leaf and brakes.
If Im not mistaken, 2011 is the first year that Ford actually made a difference in the two models, worth noting. I will say this, if your planning on buying a camper vs a travel trailer, buy a DRW. You will want one after your first couple of trips with a SRW.

In the newer superduties, as stated by eleven-eco, have several differences. The splines on the transmission input shaft is different and the braking systems are different as well, hydro versus vacuum. The suspension is slightly different along with the 350 having higher towing rating. The ride and turning radius is the same as 350, I would go with a 350 for the 750 dollar difference in cost. If you are only towing 7k the new 150s are well capable of that. The new diesels are a pain in the butt compared to my 7.3.

The only differences are the badges and suspension. I do not tow any more than 25k pounds so I only have a F250. That's still over the tow capacity for my 99 7.3L but it pulls with no problem. How much will you be towing?

Size Matters, get the 350 Duals/ Super Crew loaded. Diesel or Gas ! What sounds best to you.
