If you drove the 9900 GVRW 6.2 , it is detuned compared to the 10000 GVWR 6.2. 316 HP -387lbs TQ. vs 385 HP - 405 lbs TQ

Thats weird. I have seen engines detuned for higher GVWR but not lower.

Ford doesn't detune their engines for different weights. The higher GVWR are just rated at a different RPM than peak, giving you the lower number.. same motor, same tune.

I see that a few of you went from the 5.0 f150 to the SD 6.2. Has anyone went from the ecoboost 150 to a Gasser SD? I have plenty of power towing my TT but the mpg and handling is a place that lacks. Wondering if I'd be happy with the 6.2 towing in a heavier truck as I'm used to more torque. My TT is 8200 pounds. A superduty will be my next truck, $8200 dollars is a lot of money forba diesel and add to that cost of maintaining it, but on the other hand 8200 is a small price to pay to not be disappointed. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and opinions

The Superduty with the 6.2L will get worse mileage than the F150 with the Ecoboost, especially when not loaded. Even the Superduty diesels don't get that good mileage unloaded, probably no better than what I'm getting now with my EcoBoost. But they should do better than the EcoB when towing.

As for handling, the F150, like most half-tons, doesn't have the suspension/tires to handle a full load. But if you stiffen the suspension and swap in LT tires, I've found it to be pretty good. A better option would be to get an F150 with the HD Payload option as that will also give you a better rear GAWR and GVWR.

If you are interested in diesel, you should also consider the new Nissan Titan XD with the Cummins 5L diesel. Should be out in December with better mileage than any of the big diesels and certainly better than the EcoB. It should also have an exhaust brake, eliminating an EcoB weakness. If the price is right, I will consider upgrading to it next year. If too expensive, I'll probably get an F150 HD Payload with the 3.5L EcoB and live with the worse mileage and weak engine braking.

Thanks for the info, I'm just doing some prebuy research. Probably won't pull the trigger until I see the 17s in person. As of now I have a 14 EB with max tow, E rated LT tires a good wdh ect it works for now. I'll work another season and see how much I have to move the camper next year, this year I've got over 3500 miles on it, with 5-7mpg to show for it lol.

Ouch. My camper's 8-8.5K lbs and I'm averaging 10.4 mpgUS.
But I usually travel at 60-62mph and have a very light foot.
Gas Turbo's can really hurt those who like to stomp on it.

And yes, the 17 superduty's look nice. Same engines though.

I love the new body style as far as I can tell.so I want to see it beforehand so I don't kick myself like I did for not waiting on the 15s f150s. I had a much smaller camper last year, and got 10+mpg then I got dumb and put a 6" lift with 35s on this past winter that's why my mpg is down so bad towing, well that and I'm usually on an interstate 70-75mph. I upgraded to a bigger camper that I can fit the whole family in around memorial day, it was a definitely needed for the room. I'm wishing I had a stock hieght tow vehicle though as the motor works out pretty good with my current combination lol.

Same engine but I'd like to see if the new TorqShift - G Transmission will provide some improvements for the 6.2L. Really though wish Ford would offer the 6.8L V10 in all models for 2017.
