who said anything about a BMW?
"my old truck and her Honda"

the OP's wallet shouldn't be all that thick anymore after buying a brand new SD

Thank you Ecopat,

Yeah I'm not rich at all lol, a civic and a XLT aren't exactly the rides of the wealthy.

My back maybe a a little more sensitive than others due to some damage from serving in the army, but I've never had a problem like this from any vehicle.

I'm not blaming the truck, or saying its a bad vehicle, I'm just looking for ideas to fix it.

Anyway, thanks for the ideas guys I'm looking for a upholsterer in my area right now, and trying a few other pillows, and putting the seat up really high so that my knees are bent less while driving.

I learned the wallet thing years ago, I was amazed at how much more comfortable driving was without it in my pocket lol.

How old was your old truck
I imagine the seat was well worn in & softer
Dunno if the SD seats are stiffer ? Or just so new they are stiff
My Isuzu Rodeo had leather seats & they were very stiff for a while

My old truck was a 2011 150 2WD XLT, so it had the cloth seats, they were comfortable from the start (I bought that truck new).

That's interesting about the leather in your Rodeo, maybe it just needs a little time.

I tried raising the seat way way up, like my head touching the roof of the truck, that seems to have given a lot of relief, although my head brushing against the roof is annoying, but definitely livable.

My wife thinks that the problem is that the floor of the truck is higher compared to the seat than my old truck (likely for ground clearance in the 4x4 package), which was causing me to sit with my knees above my hips (like a squatting position sort of).

So again raising the seat way up and tilting it back so that the underside of my legs are supported more by the seat seems to help.

The seat cushions themselves do seem to be pretty hard though, but I can handle a bit of a numb butt, as long as my back feels better (especially knowing it may get better as the truck gets broken in).

As I sat and thought about it last night my wife reminded me that when I bought my very first pickup (half ton) moving up from a car, I felt a little discomfort then too (not nearly this bad) and it just kind of went away on its own after about a month and a half.

Anyway I appreciate all the advice and encouragement guys, I'm still trying to find a good upholsterer to talk with (btw if any one knows one in the DFW, Texas area let me know).

I'll post a few pics too, I don't want to give the wrong impression, it's an awesome truck, and I love it.

I actually learned that trick when I was 22, and driving a nursing home van. I realized putting my wallet on the dash helped a lot.

It was all well and good until some low life stole my wallet off there (I left it like a dumba**) while I was wheeling a patient into the hospital.

Nice that the door pockets are low and you can hide things in them.

Myself included. Found the seat really really really uncomfortable until I learned to remove my wallet or shove it to the side so I'm not sitting directly on it. Big improvement! I've had a lot of vehicles over the years and my 2013 F-150 is the first I've had this problem with. Just a suggestion. Hope it helps.

Had to do the same thing when I test drove a 14. The sales man try to tKe my wallet out see if it helped. Didnt buy the truck. But it certainly help while I test drove it. And I didnt have the problek in my 03 super duty. Must be something with the new seats
