6.7 questions new owner
Hey
I'm sure some will talk crap since my last post but looking for input.
Looking at a bran new 2014 F350 6.7 diesel. picking it up Saturday.
What kind of problems have been reported with this engine. I have experience with the 6.0 and 6.4 and a little worried about buying a $70,000 truck but only way I was able to make things work with ford. My Eco boost was a bust so ford is giving me $57615 trade in to pay out that loan and get me into this F350 since it was unfix-able they told me. what kind of mileage should I have on it before any big break downs I'm hoping 100,km.
what's the fuel economy like. I'm only expecting mpg but hearing guys saying they get mpg not sure I believe this. I noticed this F350 has a L tank vs. my F150 with a L tank. why are they small. how has the ford warranty been on there diesel.

Nice looking truck, it was too bad you had so many problems with the eco. What are you planning to tow? Any reason you didn't go for the HD F-150 with the 5.0? THe 6.7L is great, I am sure but miles/$ is still gonna be low.

You should have waited to get the 15. lol. Huge difference in the output. That being said, you should check out dieselpower on Youtube. They had the 2013 competition for diesels. There was at least one 6.7 there. They were modified to some degree, but all of them got good gas mileage. Plus the 6.7's are getting easier to get more power/mpg out of with tunes. My buddy hasn't said much about anything bad on the new 6.7's. He works in the maintenance department for warranty work at a local Ford dealer.
One thing about putting a tuner on is that Ford has told many dealers that they have to report any errant files in the PCM from a tune to void the entire powertrain warranty. That being said, a tune would wake up the truck like you wouldn't believe.

I read and re-read the original title and post and found NOTHING in reference to anything other than the 6.7. As well, the 6.4s CAN be wicked, but in stock form, the 6.7 runs circles around the 6.4 in every regard.

I get from 9-12 mpg hauling about 15k 5th, 18-22 mpg empty. I am an easy driver, YMMV.
Your getting a small fuel tank because your looking at a short box truck. My 8ft came with a 37.5 gallon tank. There are aftermarket tanks for the short box to increase capacity.
You will find 400hp/800ftlbs more than adequate. Out west I was regularly accelerating up hills past other vehicles with 5th in tow. Climbed a few mountains and the only thing holding her back, was the switchbacks.
I really liked my previous 6.4, but this 6.7 is a monster.

I have a 50 gallon transferflow underbelly replacement tank in my crewcab shortbed. Really makes towing enjoyable as the limiting factor is once again your bladder, and not the truck's.
