DOC stands for Diesel Oxidation Catalyst...it is the cat part of the exhaust prior to the DPF.

I just got an 08 6.4 tonight and have been looking at doing all the deletes to mine since its out of warranty anyway. If I do the deletes I have to get a tuner of some sort so I don't throw codes right? What is a good reasonable prices tuner that allows me to do this? I won't be dragging it or anything g but would like to get some more power and better mpg out of it. This is my first diesel and would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks in advance

If using a Sct tuner, your best bet would be a Sct Livewire 9625 or 9621 and you need the offroad version which can handle the dpf delete. New they retail about $600 to $750. I have a used unlocked 9621 offroad for $475 shipped. Comes with three preloaded tunes and can also hold three custom tunes. Let me know any questions, thanks!

So the used one would be able to handle the deletes? I'm a rookie when it comes to anything diesel performance. Sorry in advance for dumb questions

I am on my 2nd 6.4 and both have now had H&S mini max and have great luck with them. Great customer service, has all the gauges and is tune on the fly...

6.4L's are awesome, once deleted. I own two deleted 6.4L's (one is probably going to be for sale, as I want a new project) and they are jsut flat out awesome. My truck dyno'd 577 HP. Luxurious interior, and it's incredibly quiet for a diesel.

6.4l's will go down as one of the best light duty diesel engine's ever built. Yes, in stock form they have a couple of weak points, but once addressed they are a very robust engine. I personally own two 6.4l's and my job is being in charge of and over seeing all repairs/maintaince/upgrades for a fleet of 63 Powerstrokes. EGR/DPF delete, HS or Spartan tuning, intake, coolant filter and headstuds and youve got one hell of a powerful and reliable truck for $2500 in extra goodies. Do it if you have the chance.
