2017 SuperDuty, Job 1
Stopped by my local dealer yesterday to pick up some parts, checked out the first 2017 SD's they had recently received.
Got to say the Quality Control was shockingly poor... Check out the hood & fender panel fit on this $68,000 truck: No signs of any shipping damage or panels tweaked in transport, this is simply how they rolled it off the line.
Really Ford?
Not so much....

There are several threads on various forums showing quality issues like this and worse. Orange peel in the paint, doors that don't line up and other things. Potential quality issues are one of the many reasons why I went with the 2016 instead of ordering a 2017. New production can be that way. Not to mention the various electronic or other issues that could go wrong with them as well. I prefer not to get the first year of a new design.

I didn't say that other makes weren't problematic. What I am saying is that the 2017 Super Duty seems to have more QC issues than their predecessors. This is to be expected as its an entirely new design. That said, cab issues are almost impossible to excuse as we are about to go into the third year of production on that hardware as its also used in the 2015+ F-150.

I have seen plenty that are built fine.
One would hope that most are fine... QC is supposed to catch the ones that are not, and the QC is failing.
Have seen only two that would need a minor adjustment with the hood.
Athough maybe not obvious from the pictures I took, this was definitely more than a hood adjustment issue... Left fender was way off, hood, headlights. The truck was a $68,000 mess.
All makes have these issues.
True enough... It's the number of issues they have that differentiates a successful launch from a poor one, and the lack of ability to catch blatant, obvious, see-it-from-ten-feet-away kinds of problems that I find most alarming. The guy who slapped that "OK" sticker on the windshield would have literally been right on top of the misaligned fender and hood. Do you suppose he has any "NOT OK" stickers on him?
