Default 2012 sd front axle lsd or locked

Does the front axle have a locker in it or is it lsd?

Open is the only option I know of in the SuperDuty lineup.

If you're going to do it, you need to use a selectable locker. LSD's don't play well in front axles. You need to be able to fully disengage it for turning /cornering.

Because its probably a selectable locker, if it wasn't then you would be going through tires every couple months.

Every seen a racecar make a sharp turn and hear chirp chirp chirp chirp from the tires as its turning? That's because of the lock! So although I cant say for sure for your yota I would be willing to bet that the front locker will only lock in certain situations and is normally open.

To answer the OP question, the front is a open and only locks once you get out and turn the hubs.

The only true front locked Toyota was the 80 series land cruiser. It was a selectable e locker. Only came on when in 4 low and the switch selected.

Arb makes a air locker for the Dana super 60 axle.

Its an open differential whether the hubs are engaged or not. It never locks.

Correct

The 2013 - 2014 Raptor had a Torsen Diff in the front and an E-Locker out back.
