[quote=TFX4;191565] I think the last year Ford used the 7.3 was 2002, so if you dont mind an 8 year old truck i would say go with the 7.3.quote]
Ford did a half year in 2003. 1st half, 7.3. Second half, 6.0. Just FYI. My 2000 F250, 7.3, 4x4... 309,000 miles, 19mpg, 1 CPS, 1 clutch, 2 water pumps(my fault for buying reman.) Just thought I would through that out there too...

if you want the ford truck and aren't concerned with big power, just get a 7.3 imo. more reliable. if you want power and don't care about comfort or a decent trany but cant bring yourself to buy a chevy get a cummins. if you want comfort, reliability, and power, get a d-max.
So your saying the 7.3 doesnt have big power?Maybe the non 7.3 without the turbo. But the 7.3 with the turbo has plenty of power.I had 2003/7.3 turbo 350 and it has plenty of power and can compete with your d-max.
Now on to the OP.The 6.0's after the 05 years, were still a crap shoot. Some ppl still had problems with them, and some who bot them did not.Check the turbo, check the exaust, cover your *** and get a car fax report.Ask for maintence reports/tune ups. Also take along your own mechanic to check it over.N if something doesnt seem right, ask questions/if no straight answers, walk away. After all this is a big investment, protect your ***.Good luck man.
