Could be high pressure oil, fuel pressure, injector elec. power, and lots of other things.

When it runs rough it smokes and its black and I just changed his oil it was a little low. He thinks its in the foot pedal sensor

TPS won't make it run like crap all the time. Maybe strange RPMs or cutting out to idle while driving, but that's it.

Had my pedal sensor go out and no response pushing pedal was way I found out. Ran bad at about 230k and was injector wiring. Also had high pressure seals go out cheap fix at 200k.

Also it might might be the injector orings. I had to pull all of mine and the orings were burnt about halfway through. That will cause anything from no start because of no oil pressure or a rough idle because the oil is bypassing through the rings. Its not a hard job to do. It would also be smart to go ahead and replace the injector wiring harness while you are at it.
