Default Weight Lifters!

Well for the guys who hit the gym I suppose this would be a good place to discuss, other than a dedicated board.

I have a quick question though.

Anyone have any recommendations for a post workout?

I have been lifting to stay toned for about a year and a half, using GNC's Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60 for most of it, but about 2 months ago it started making me sick everytime a would drink it. So i started using the Myoplex chocolate shake mix. Which is good, but is it for all around athletics, not lifting. I want to start taking lifting more seriously to gain some more size and weight. Anyone have any suggestions on what to drink? I am open to any brands.

If you eat right you don't need the powder. It's over marketed.

Do some studying on protein values in food and what you need to eat will become obvious. I know the drinks are 'easy' but after having the ****s for a month I came up with a better solution.

To be 'serious' about gains means focus - focus on your lifting and focus on your eating.

Bee pollen 10 min before / recovery drink like muscle milk after. Eat a banana every morning after breakfast. Chicken, fish, chicken, fish, pork loin, steak. Repeat. Fresh fruits and raw veggies, no salad dressing. Don't drink soda - water, v8, fruit juice / smoothies.

Easy money

I eat well, usually oatmeal for breakfast, grilled chicken & salad for lunch and dinner. Sometimes I mix up dinner. With bananas and apples or peanut butter crackers as snacks in between meals.

As for a prework out, I switch on and off. I dont use it all the time, but when I do, I drink C4.

I also play softball and since cardio workouts arent the best when trying to gain mass, I only run once a week for about 4 miles.

Great! Then just up your intake of what you are already eating. If you use one of those calorie counter watches (~30 bucks), you'll have a good idea of how much to increase based on what you currently eat vs currently use during your workout vs daily calorie burn (minus workout).

If you track it that closely, you will not only see what your workout increase is, you will also see the impact on your daily. Steadily add ~500 cal until you plane out on increased output - that way you won't gain any chub.

I go to the gym around three days a week, but it's not crazy lifting, only a nice hour workout; normally arms. I ride my bike to stay in shape with my legs. When I was a sophomore in High School, I used the "Black Power" drink mix before workouts, and felt a difference, but I honestly feel that those drinks are overrated. Now all I do is go to the gym, and workout, with no additives except water. BTW, the greatest post workout drink is chocolate milk. Trust me, my sister got her master's is trainer/dietitian.

Although there is a fine line between workouts in High School sports (sorry, if it's college), and just for fun. I like being able to workout without the pressure.

Bio rythm after glow is the best you can buy. Or a powdered bcaa with monohydrate creatine in a drink with natural sugars not glucose...like chocolate milk
