The problem is that there isn't an agreed upon definition of assault rifle.

I will say that my local city PD thwarted what would have imminently been a mass shooting with an assault rifle. Maybe two or so weeks ago.

I'd like everyone to consider this when asserting whether something has or has not ever happened - lots of crimes are thwarted every day but don't make the news. Other crimes are completed and still don't make the news.

Haha well I was talking about them spelling caliber "cabliber" I thought it was a typo the first time but they did it twice. But true a 50 is a terribly impractical weapon for a crime unless you have like a whole squad of people and reason to be knocking out cars and stuff. And yeah media definition assault rifles have been used like aurora and sandy hook but true legal ones haven't been used more than one or two times. I know the AKs used in that 97 north Hollywood shootout were illegally purchased.

Technically there is an agreed upon definition. The media uses it incorrectly intentionally. People are really at the mercy of the media. Lots of concealed carriers prevent crimes every day but they will not report it because it doesn't fit the narrative that everyone with a gun is a cowboy looking for a fight so the streets are less safe with guns.

Got some pics of my granddads kimber since he's in town. The thing is incredibly light for a 1911. I wish he went with the 4.2 inch barrel over the 3.8. The 3.8 just looks off with a full size grip

The grip doesn't have much effect on carrying, the barrel does. If he carries he made the right choice

he does carry but he carries it in a full size 1911 Blackhawk holster lol. I mean he conceals it under a shirt or jacket when he's out but he's out much. They only leave home like once a week but that's because they are 30 minutes from any store. He's also in his early 70s so here doesn't shot as much as he used to. I mean I know the shorter barrle will help with draw speed, but he's not gonna be doing anything fast. I shot both the 3.8 and the 4.2 barrel before I personally liked the 4.2 better. Less muzzle flip and just felt better in general. But it's not my gun (yet) so I guess I can't complain lol

This is what he carries it in, so it's not like he is trying really hard to conceal it. Idk just seams like a 4.2 would have been a better more convenient gun for him
