I am a project coordinator for a City. Design projects, procure them and do site inspections. Before this I was a layout/foreman for heavy civil projects.
Before this I was a carpenter for 7 years. I sometimes miss the labour part of the work.

Your job sounds pretty awesome!

Best job I ever had was working on a jobsite doing material handling and delivery. Hauled heavy material across the big jobsite to work stations where the journeymen needed it. Saved time and effort on their part. Sorta like a hotshot but on a smaller scale. Loved it. Something different every day.
When I was 18 and starting out I had a similar job except I was driving all over the city delivering whatever the tradesmen needed. It was low pay but at least I got a company truck and it was easy. Plus I got paid to sit in traffic for hours lol.

Yea its a lot of fun! Pay is good and I get to meet a lot of new contractors.

My belt line misses the physical work. But my body doesn't.

I'm pretty much able to come and go as I please. I get out of the office to get the info for estimates, pick up/order/deliver materials, and check up on the current jobs. If it's too hot/cold/rainy, I'll stay in the office all day.
Occasionally I'll look outside and think about skipping out to go fishing, which is the main reason I'd like to work 4 10s, lol.

That's good to hear. I hate starting out at the bottom after being my own boss but it's expected.
