Reason why mountain bike helmets are so expensive is because they need to be light and ventilated without compromising strength. More expensive materials are used. A lot of them are carbon fiber.

It's worth it. I've read up on cheap helmets. They crack, dent, split on an impact. On some of the cheaper downhill helmets the chin piece will crumple and do more harm than good.

I'm off to murica for some gas. It's only a 10 min drive.

Local prices = $4.98 a gallon

Washington = $3.53

Washington is even cheaper than here. It was $3.73 on Tuesday for pure 87.
