It reminds you of a redwood forest. It blocks out the sun. They should be cutting some of the trees down, but they arenít. If some nut starts another fire starts there, all hell will break loose.
That is beautiful

I was diagnosed with lymphoma in 93 was 20 at the time. Doctors said I was lucky we caught it in its early stages. Was cured that same year and still cancer free.

You probably went up the back side from the desert. Going up the front side there's a turn off at about 5,400 ft. for Lake Arrowhead. Big Bear is a hair over 6,000 ft.

That lake was kind of special to me. Spent my pre-teen summers there & learned how to waterski. Went Professional after high school for 5 years, till I blew out my knee.

First words out of my sisters mouth when she saw Lake Arrowhead for the first time was "Wow, look at the giant swimming pool." I think that was about 1965 or so. My father ran the projectors at the Arrowhead theater back then. We were able to see a lot of free movies for several years. Who else remembers the penny arcade and mini golf course?

Yep, we would turn off at Yucca Valley and come in from the desert, went past the rock quarry (I guess that's what it was). I miss that mountain, it was special to us. We came from north Georgia, a mountain area, so Big Bear was our escape from the desert.

I spent a lot of time in winter, snowboarding in Big Bear when I was a kid and into my late teenage years... Rode my street bike up there a lot too. Good times...
