Turns out painting it didn't fix that missing brick. Really cleaned it up nice though.

Our contractor is going to find/cut a brick for that hole. We had leftover paint from the walls and trim so we figured we'd use it on the fireplace. Once the surface was cleaned, the paint stuck surprisingly well. If it was up to me we would have torn out the fireplace completely, but that would've taken forever and cost too much.

I was happy with the change. Took it from crappy old place to clean modern home just by painting the fireplace.

I need to put new floor tile in one of mine. I found a great deal on closeout peel an stick from Lowes. After a week they started popping up, so much for a good deal. I'm thinking of going with carpet tiles so I can replace individual ones as needed.

We moved away from peel and stick jobs early on. Cheap, but not worth it. Gotta replace it within a year or two. We buy some special type of laminated ceramic tile, they don't break and look much better. I dropped a large hammer from about 5 ft on one a few weeks ago. It happened it slow motion "oooooooo shiiiiiiit" then it made contact and guess what? Not even a scratch or a chip.

They are pricey but we make sure to buy them in bulk whenever they are on sale. We have used them in 4 houses so far.

Do you have a Lowes Commercial Business Credit card? If not, it's worth looking into. 5% off doesn't sound like much but it adds up.

I put the groutable adhesive tiles in both my main bathroom and entrance way. Not a single problem after two years. What prep did you do?

Thought I'd share the last house we did. Went from 1bd 1bth to 3bed 2bath with a huge living room. Bought for $20,000, spent ~$20,000 now getting $625/mo for it.

Started out looking like a complete pile of you know what.

We gutted it then added two more rooms

And finished it brand new inside and out.
