This is my department. In that part of TX most leases are going to be three years. The owner(s) of the minerals, there are more than one on a tract of land usually, lease the oil and gas that they own to an oil company. The oil company pays them for the lease plus they get royalties on any of their oil and gas produced. The lease stays in effect for the three years or as long as production is maintained. Field guys call the land where the wells are the "lease", but the actual lease is a contract and there are often many leases (one with each mineral owner) on any given "lease". Clear as mud right?

yep! i figured it was something along those lines. i work directly with the o&g company, so all the wells we work on are on their "leases"

Right. And, it's not that saying you're going out to the lease is wrong, I just thought I would chime in since she asked what are you leasing. I deal with the paper leases for a living, so of course I had to try to help explain that one.

To update this, i finally got a job. I started this past Monday. At a Ford dealer no less! Auto nation Ford collision center in white bear lake MN. Back painting. I applied to over 40 shops. The job market is totally different out here. Most employees stay at their job for years, back in mass you move around to where the money is.

I also took on some very light body work, and I'm doing spray in bed liners! Pretty cool driving all the '13 f150's everyday.

@LaBalaDePlata Okay cool. I used to be a truck driver. I drove long distance by myself for 6 years. Then me and my husband drove team together for 8 years.
