Ouch. LOL. Its really hard to tell what's going on with it without being there. Hopefully, someone didn't accidentally pour diesel in the tranny. Although, that may mean there are more serious problems. Sounds like that bad boy is going to the shop or having a mobile mechanic coming out.

I know..does ATF sound correct for a skylift?
I mean, it is a "shuttle shift" automatic

ATF and standard hydraulic fluid are very similar other than the detergents used in them. So, yeah, ATF would probably be correct.

Are you having problems with boom movement or the tranny going forward or reverse?

Trans.

I added 2qts, the. Switched the 20 degree and 40 degree safety wires and now it works...reluctantly

See I automatically think boom failure. If it's forward and reveres then I would check and make sure all the connectors are good. Very rarely have I seen a trans go on a sky trek. I had one quit on me and it ended up being a parking break sensor, that wouldn't allow for the parking break to shut off. But this one sounds to old to have to many sensors.
