They're a good ways outside the fender now vs before. Look at how much of the fender and exhaust is cut off in the bottom pic. -12 isn't a crazy amount but its a decent offset to give it a bit more stance, especially with big wide tires. I wish mine were -12 and sat my tires at the edge of the fender.

I personally like -24 or so to get it on out there as well, but no taller than his truck is that would have looked goofy and probably rubbed.
