My thoughts are that the police were completely justified. The stupid *** owner is the only one to blame here. People are so quick to point fingers at cops (shut up, Amick lol), but what would you do if a big dog was going after you?
I agree. I'm not a dog person, but its just not right for cruelty to these animals. The officer had a right to to this as the dog was showing hostility, and what could have happened was uncertain. If he had not have shot him, you possibly would of had an injured officer, and a dead dog.

I understand what you are saying. It isn't right to kill an animal. But think of this: What would or could have happened had they not shot it? We don't know what that dog could have done to him. Simply take it as there was only no casualty and no other types of injuries.

I hear ya. I'm an animal lover, but people are crying that there were other methods and actions to take (mace, rubber bullets, etc), but quick action was needed and guns were already in their hands... I would have done the same thing. Although it was a sad outcome for the dog, who was just protecting its owner, the situation needed to be handled before someone got mauled.

Yeah I saw it. It's ****ed up. What would I have done? Let the owner THAT WAS STANDING RIGHT THERE take care of his dog, not be a **** bag and shoot the dog.

You wouldn't believe the horrible things people are saying about these cops, and cops in general. Super ignorant. They're not understanding the situation in its entirety.

Or allow the owner to calm his dog down. Normally in a situation like this the dog will just nip and growl to intimidate the strangers/attackers. He wouldn't actually full on maul and kill someone unless the dog is trained to be a killer.

What's even worse than the dog dying is the owner seeing his dog get shot and watching him die. I don't care what he did, no one deserves to see their dog die.

There are times where actions by the police are debatable. But there are a hell of a lot more that are truly justified. People are blinded by the fact that an officer just shot an animal. They think that "Oh god. this guy is a heartless bastard, and shot it just because he's an officer."

People need to look at the bigger picture and realize what COULD have happened had they not done that. People are some of the biggest dumbasses you will ever meet. I just pray that there are more people like you guys who actually have some sense.

The owner wasn't cooperating. To begin with, he put the dog in a car that had the windows all down... The thing is, we'll never know what was the "right" thing to do. It just irritates me that people seem to care more about this dog more than anything else that's going on in this world... And are calling for the officers' heads over it.
