I'm experimenting with different styles and techniques just now - because I can....

15 seconds with a piece of welding glass held in place by a couple of elastic bands.

Long exposure with the same welding glass to show some cloud movement.

Hopefully all this practice will come in handy for our vacation in a couple of weeks.

Have you tried using a neutral density filter? Its probably way easier and will give you some stunning results.

Yes I have some ND filters but nothing in the 10-12 stop range. A good quality 10 stop ND filter will probably be $150 up, whereas this welding glass and some elastic bands cost me $6.
If I find I'm using this glass a lot to get the images I want, I'll probably look into upgrading but for now this will prove if I even need a 10 stopper.

Pulled out my external drive and starting sifting through some more pictures from our Zambia trip. Here's just a few of the highlights from the trip across the border to Botswana to drive/boat through the wilderness. This ain't no zoo..... The boat got stuck and we had to hop into the croc-infested waters to push it free. The Americans on the boat were freaking out when the crazy guy (me) jumped into the water without a moments hesitation. Anyway, here you go.
