Default Any cable guy techs?

Have a few questions about signal strength I'd like to ask.

I'll go into more details after but I'm curious, if I am seeing a average of 9dBmV signal strength at my modem, what is my main feed line signal strength? Coming into my house the main goes to a 1Ghz 120db RFI 2-Way Splitter with -3.5db drop legs. One leg feeds my modem, the other leg feeds another splitter for the rest of my TVs.

It's my understanding that a splitter cuts signal in half and then you subtract the 3.5db lose. So if I am getting 9dBmV at my modem after the -3.5db drop, if I add that back in I get 12.5dBmV and then times it by 2(because the splitter cuts it in have) my man line is 25dBmV???

Also at what dBmV provides the best signal possible for Digital TVs?

I know amps aren't good to use on modem lines but if adding a amp to my TV lines will get me to the ideal strength I'd install one. I also know you can have to much strength which is why I'm asking what the idea strength is.

Here is how everything was ran, then I tried a couple other ways.

I must add I never have had issues with Internet or Cable, just thought it would be nice to see if there were some things that could be changed to possible make things better.

Turns out, the main from the pole came to a cheap 5-900ghz splitters. Not sure if it was balanced or unbalanced, wasn't labeled.

1st leg of it ran to my office and then once in my office it split again with a 1Ghz 2-Way splitter. One leg of that went to the modem, the other to a TV.

2nd leg from splitter ran to the TV in my shop

3rd leg ran to a 1Ghz 3-Way 120db RFI unbalanced Splitter from there one went to my living room, the others went to master room and my sons room.

Before I did anything I typed in 192.169.100.1 and was getting this for signal strengths.

1. -0.2dBmV
2. 0.0dBmV
3. -0.1dBmV
4. -0.2dBmV

First thing I did was remove the splitter in the office and ran the cable from my panel directly to the back of the modem. Ran test again.

1. 3.4dBmV
2. 4.3dBmV
3. 4.1dBmV
4. 4.0dBmV

Then went to the box outside to change some things up. I removed the cheap 3 way 5-900ghz splitter. Installed a 1Ghz 2-Way 120db RFI -3.5db drop per leg splitter. Ran one directly to my modem and the other to a 1Ghz 3-Way 120 db RFI unbalanced splitter with a -3.5db, -7db, and -7db drop legs. The -3.5db leg i ran to my living room with a Digital Box DVR, the other to the Master bedroom TV, and the other to my shop TV. My son is just under 8 months old so no need for a TV in his room so i disconnected it. Ran test again.

1. 8.4dBmV
2. 9.1dBmV
3. 8.9dBmV
4. 8.7dBmV

3dB is half power, so I'm pretty sure the label indicates that both signals are 3.5db down for the original (no additional halfin necessary).

Digital being what it is, unless you're experiencing dropouts on your modem/slow speeds/ or artifacts on your TV, you're getting "full quality".

I'm not experiencing any issues at all but I'm a type of person that once I find something that wasn't as it should have been i research it to death, normally confusing myself more and then look at ways to not only make it correct but to improve it if possible.

I completely understand the idea of making things ideal, but experience has taught me that the least number of parts to get the performance you desire gives you the most reliable system.
