I never said it was undeniable lol, but I do favor the side of science.

"If every trace of any single religion were wiped out and nothing were passed on, it would never be created exactly that way again. There might be some other nonsense in its place, but not that exact nonsense. If all of science were wiped out, it would still be true and someone would find a way to figure it all out again."
~ Penn Jillette

Just a quote that I personally believe to be true, it is not intended to offend or persuade otherwise.

Wasn't really aimed at you haha

The problem with that idea is that with both of them, if either one is true, it is true but noone knows it. It works for both religion and science.

A side note: Atheism in my mind is a religion because it say's there is no God with no proof of that belief... which makes it a religion! I am an agnostic which means having no evidence.... I just don't know, but chose not to pick one of the religious stories to explain what I don't know, nor likely ever will!

I think that when people say religion is the cause of so much pain..... they really mean what man does in the name of religion! If everyone was willing to have their own religious beliefs and allow others to have theirs .... or even none it all.... without interference and judgement, religion would not be a negative force it truly is.

I suspect the only area we might disagree on is that since religion relies on "faith" not "fact" it does lead man away from trying to understand why things are as they are in the world. It supplies fiction in place of scientific fact. Homosexuality is a good example of that! Some religious people simply comdemn it without recognizing that it is found throughout the animal kingdom and therefore may have a genetic or evolutionary basis. Some scientists wonder if homosexual animals in a group don't improve it's survival possibilities the way drone bees that don't reproduce do in a hive!

Some of us who are not religious chose to say, "I can have a clear set of morals to live by based on what I see and understand in the world around me without having answers to all my questions. I would rather say I just will never know, than to pick one of the childish, primative, silly and immature stories offered by religion to explain what we yet don't understand!"

I apologize for the words "childish, primative, silly and immature" if they offend. I paused trying to think of unoffensive adjectives to use so not to offend the religious, but then decided that would simply be being dishonest as to my honest thoughts! The things we are asked to believe in all religions do seem childish, primative, silly and immature to me, but I certainly respect people's right to believe them and my intention is not to offend.

I have been told that people can't discuss religion without anger and judgements! I don't believe that.... all though it is true of many. Those that truly are comfortable in their religious beliefs are not offended by those who don't agree! Those that immediately are angered and offended, I suspect are insecure and "Whistling in the dark out of fear!" It is harder pyschologically to go through life admiting that you don't have all the answers, but I accept that path because it is the only one that makes sense to me after having a pretty good religious education!
I have a friend that I grew up with that is very anti-religious and liberal. The occasional religion/political debate he and I have on occasion has taught me tolerance and respect for the beliefs of others. I understand that just because someone thinks my religion seems childish, primitive, silly or immature does mean they think the same of me. As long as anyone's belief's does not impede on my life, then what does it matter what someone else believes in. That does not mean we can't have the occasional civil debate about the issue just for fun as long as it is civil, but I understand that most can't be civil, tolerant, or respectful when it comes to those type of debates. You have your beliefs because of your life experiences and so do I. So no, I did not take offence.

Also, their is faith in science. They just happen to call it theory.

That was the MOST ridiculous waste of time, money, and effort. I think few things illustrate the abject stupidity of republicans than that whole debacle. I think that might have been where the seeds of my republican hatred were planted.

I think the real reason that useless feces-bag Starr went after him is because he couldn't get one himself, and the last time he did, he got laughed at a-la The Unforgiven...

Lying about oral sex has nothing to do with governance. I repeat, lying about oral sex has NOTHING to do with governance!

As for Hillary, my philosophy has always been: whatever makes you happy!

i think i understand now. if you believe perjury (lying under oath, breaking the law) has nothing to do with governing then of course you would be a democrat, I would hate republicans too

I think I can easily believe the argument if there was no such thing as religion, we'd find some other mechanism...
