Probably the same reason he isn't in the debates, less than 6% of the votes

It always comes down to a lesser of 2 evils doesn't it ?

My question to you, since you have a front row seat to MA. What is the salary as Gov.? I am sure somebody will correct me, but isn't capital gains different from payroll tax ? And therefore, would it not put that money back into the coffers ?

Please explain ?

I think most of us would admit that Romney is not our ideal candidate, but when you look at Obama, he's a million times better. I'll admit he does move around on issues a bit but nothing to the degree that Obama has done (take a look back at his 08 campaign).

IIRC, we have another member who was in MA while Romney was governor and would vote for him so I see it as being opinionated toward whichever path you believe would've been better.

What I truly don't understand is how so many liberals claim Romney is a far right conservative. He's not. He's a moderate conservative which you would think would help him win. The problem is the media is rather left leaning and that the voting population doesn't truly care about the election, they just want the ads to stop. Pretty ridiculous

Capital gains tax is, in part, influenced by the amount of earned income you have. Below a certain threshold of earned income (wages) capital gains tax is reduced from 35% to 15%. had he taken the salary of the governor's office in MA, he would have earned somewhat north of $100K, which would have put this capital gains tax into the 35% bracket.

He didn't refuse the salary out of any sense of noble suffering. Jobs, Gates, and many others have parlayed this "He only took a $1 salary (or no salary" line of BS into sainthood, (they took no salary while they were rescuing apple, or fill in the blank) when in reality it's a tax dodge coupled with a slick PR campaign.

As to the other resident of MA who would vote for Romney, I wonder if the other resident had to deal with the very real property tax increases and user fees imposed on taxpayers of the Commonwealth while Gov. Romney was busy "saving" Massachusetts without raising (state) taxes but forcing municipalities to raise property taxes and doubling, tripling, and more fees and licensing rates. (In reality, Gov Romney had little to do with the budget situation in MA< but if he wants to take credit for the outcome, he has to take the blame for the route as well. In addition, the raising of licensing and user fees, the Assault Weapons Ban, Romney care (AKA budget time bomb) were all very much under the control of the governor's office)

Because the thought of someone who wants to be an advocate for efficient government or wants balanced budgets, rational drug policy reform, protection of civil liberties, comprehensive tax reform, and personal freedoms seems to scare some people.

The truth about themselves may scare them more.

...jumping into this, why not?!

I think only Atheists/Agnostics should be allowed to run for President (or any position of public "power"). Religious zealotry is the root of all problems in this world.

Obama has my vote because voting for Thurston Howell III is turning the clock back to let's say, 1955, or as they like to say, "Bush's third term".

If I thought he had a snowball's chance in hell, I'd vote for the man in a heartbeat, and probably will anyway. The interesting thing about the online polls that go through your stance on issues and then determine which candidate best matches your views is that it shows people how very, very little real difference there is between Gov. Romney and Pres. Obama. IIRC, my results for that quiz were something in the realm of 90+ % Johnson, and 70% for the other two candidates.........they were tied.

Yes sadly a vote for Johnson is a vote for Obama as it would likely have been made by someone that otherwise would have voted Mitt. The Obama base will stay with him no matter what.
