Actually, this factually inaccurate. The BLS data in which they calculate the headline Unemployment number, known as the U-3 calculation, has been change several times, under both party administrations, over the last several decades. Most recently was the change of not including those individuals who stopped looking for work as a part of the calculation, during the Clinton administration. let me be clear I am in no way saying Clinton or the Dems put this forward. this is just the time frame of when it occurred. There have been various reasons for the claculation changes which I think are mostly BS.

Default unemplyment: real vs made up

the unemployment # that is reported on the news has been monkeyed around with so much that most economists do not look at it by itself. They also place a heavy emphais on the U-6 reading which is closer to the unemployment number of years ago. the U-6 number did not change month over month, it stayed steady at 14.7%. While it has come down, it is still very elevated. It includes those who have stopped looking and those who are working part time due to economic reasons or who want to work full time but can not fiund full time work. The u-2 (not the band) # isolates partime employment. It improved by 0.3%, the same amount as the headline unemployment. so, high correlation that the improvement was due to parttime employment. that is not a good thing as employers are unwilling to hire fulltime workers.

I'll admit I don't have all the answers but one large problem is all the "ranchettes" being built. 20 acres of great farm ground 20 miles out of a major town right in the middle of all the farm ground and then they complain when farmers do fieldwork...

That and the amount of waste that is considered acceptable to society is ridiculous

You see this outside of D.C. in VA and MD too. Rolling farmland interspersed with clusters of McMansions. It's obvious that whoever owned the farm sold off a parcel for residential development. The land is worth more for housing than for farming. Simple economics. But in this case, these are horse farms and some dairy, but certainly not major sources of food.

Edit: People have to live somewhere, right? And the jobs are in the city.

You do realize that that's largely humor, right?

Snoop has been a living caricature for quite a while now.

You do realize that in the realm of data analysis a decade is an incredibly long time for a model to be unchanged? Even the CPI "basket" gets changed more frequently.
