The places where I have mine is on door and right at door striker I guess you would say. If you have the title it should say it there.

Maybe the dash has been replaced, but the vin is required on the drivers side of the dash.

Not all vehicles HAVE the VIN on the dash though. my 86 doesnt, nor is there a provision for it either from what I see.

bear in mind, this was an era where everyone was still getting accustomed to 17 digit vin numbers.

NOW, your new cars have a VIN sticker on every removable part. the hood, trunk lid, doors, PROBABLY the bumpers, and god only knows what else.....

Do the model year, engine size... etc VIN digits match what you have?

You might very well be asking that question.... In my state A DMV employee must go out to the vehicle and verify the VIN. You might call the DMV and ask about lost or unreadable VIN's. They may assign you a special number to use?

My '86 has a VIN plate on the driver side dash, but it's not part of the dash itself. It's riveted to a metal part of the frame / firewall. So if the dash were removed the VIN plate would still be there. Maybe your dash was replaced with a dash that does not have the cutout? If so the VIN plate would be hidden.

Quick Reply: where is my vin?
