If I put a 1985 f150 with a 4 speed manual. I also have a junked 1990 f150 with a 5 speed manual and I was wondering if it would be possible to swap the 5-speed in for 4-speed

Is the shifter on the floor? Is so and the engines are the same I think they should swap, if the shiftier is on the column you will have to swap parts there also or change the whole column

Would be a neat trick with a 4 on the tree. Lol.

I know that Ford likes to change their bolt patterns on engines a few years apart, might be something you want to check before you go pulling stuff apart. Also make sure the clutch system is compatable. No sense in starting a swap only to find out that it won't bolt up or the clutch system is wrong. This is all stuff you can check without spending any money.

other than customizing shifter location shouldnt be an issue to swap the trans, would have to swap bell housing if going from a large to small block, and consider different clutch slave cylinder locations. certainly not impossible but always nice to have a donor truck.
