Thats not possible. N has to be between h and l. I know patterns are (starting at top) 2h-4h-n-4l and 4l-n-2h-4h with 4h being at the seat. Does your 4x4 light work on your dash?

They are telling me thats no shift pattern a ford tcase ever had. I know there is a 4l-n-4h-2h from dash to seat but not what you stated. They also said someone may have installed wrong linkage. One of these guys worked a ford parts counter for 35yr. I dunno what else to add.

2H and 4H are always on one side of neutral 4L on the other side. H-N-L. On every truck I've ever seen anyway.
I did have a 76 chev back in about 78 that had 5 positions 2H, 4H, N, 4L, 2L. I kinda liked 2 low for the fields and bush roads. But that's the only variation I've ever seen.
There were a few oddball ones that had power takeoff on them - don't suppose yours has that ?
