Hey 84Red, how do you take these apart to adjust the miles? I found a cluster with a tach from an 86 and putting it in my 85. It has significantly more miles then mine has and I would like to set it back. I just don't want to break anything so any help is appreciated. The ford dealer said they could send it away to get adjusted for $200 bucks, would rather do it myself if possible.

First take it out of the vehicle, after that undo the bolts on the plastic cover, then pull that off, then pull the little plastic black trim stuff off and thats about it. Then on the back of the cluster where the speedo cable is, there are 2 bolts holding it in. Take those out and your speedo should pop right out. I used a pliers to hold the metal bar up so I could change my mileage. If you need more details/pics let me know. Also I would suggest is putting it in your truck and test all the lights before putting it all back.

Thanks you! I will give it a try. And checking the lights would be a good idea. I had it plugged in and made sure all the gauges worked but not the lights.

Okay so I got it all apart fine. But how do you move those little white gears out of the way so I can change the mileage? Is that the metal bar that you are talking about holding up, I was scared to pry on it. Thanks.
