Default swap or not...1960 f100 with 3spd

Hey guys, just purchased a 1960 f100 with the 223 I6 and a three on the tree. the engine and trans are in PERFECT condition, and the truck starts every time no problem. My issue however is that the trans is not my cup of tea.
Even though it works fine, I don't like the lack of 2-1 syncros and can't help but imagine how much more drivable the truck would be with a proper floor shifter and enough power to merge into traffic.

I need your guys advice on my three options:
1) stick with the original equipment and keep the truck as is.
2) swap to a better trans (recommendations very welcome) and keep the I6
3) swap the whole engine and trans to a V8 or 4bt cummins and a 5spd trans.

Do not ruin that truck with a 4Bt.. I could see a 302 or a 289. A 4Bt would just destroy that truck. ive wanted that truck my whole life. Me and the old lasy talk about buying one all the time if we could afford it. Keep it OE. And drive it everyday.

yeah I've felt horrible tearing into something thats works so perfectly as is, but I just wish the trans was a little... less 1960 I guess.
Would there be any advantage to swapping the factory 4spd trans?

Its more practical. But way less cool..plus youd have to cut up the floor pan and chop a shifter down.
