Starting a restore project on a 1978 f100/150
A friend of mine has a 1978 ford f100/150 (I'm not sure if it was labeled as an f150 then or not) and he wants to get it in working order. With long term plans of restoring it with body work new chrome and paint.
I am told the engine worked last when it was running, it needs a new oil pump and master cylinder (possibly the booster also) it will also need new wires (squirrels)
I have advised him we should start on the engine getting an oil pump, cleaning (possibly rebuilding the carburetor)
Can anyone tell me if my advice is sound and how hard the wiring is on old fords? I am not a great mechanic but am capable of most tasks that are not rebuilding an engine or major tasks like that.

I would get the mechanical systems in order first (this includes the wiring repairs), so yes you are correct in the starting point. IMHO As far as the wiring harness, depending on how bad it is damaged, I would look for a replacement harness from LMC, Bronco graveyard, or a you-pull-it if they have one near you are options
