which seats will interchange?
I've got a 77 F-150 and I need a seat in a pretty bad way, i was just curious if anyone has put a seat in one of these from a later model truck, how big of a deal is it, and are their any from later models that are direct bolt in?
Thanks in advance for any help.

The bench seats have changed their mounts a little bit over the years, but with some minor modification they should work. If you are wanting to do a bucket or captain's chair you will have to drill new holes for the mounts. I think they were the same seat mounts until the early 80's for the bench. JustcallmeSean or some of the other guys will know more.

i just want to go back with a bench, got two little girls that like to ride with me. but i had thought about going with one out of a mid 90's f150 with the cup holders and fold down arm rest if its not too much trouble to make it work in my truck.

While I don't think that the tunnel height has changed much, I think the heighth of the floor under the seat has. It might bolt up just fine. The only problem I can see is that some of the mid 90's seat backs are thicker than the older ones, and your seat might sit higher than stock. If you're under 5'8" your should be golden. lol

To my knowledge seat swaps from 80-96 fit those years only. It may fit your truck but may not. Measure your mounting points. Cross reference your dimensions vs the seat you want to put in. You may be able to change your mounts to the new seat .
Sorry i cant give a more difinitive answer

I installed one from the mid 90s xlt series, had to do some cutting and welding , but u could just get away with cutting the current studs out, marking your holes and slamming some bolts thru, i welded mine ( studs basically). I was redoing the entire floor too but i had to add a half inch or so of spacers for the front bolts for the seat to lean the right way

You can modify one of the newer seats to sit lower. The only thing you will have to worry about is the clearance between the seat and tunnel for the transmission. I'm 6'2" and have been in a 70's truck with a mid 90's bench. It can work with minimal mods.
