Default Roaring noise

Hey, just purchased a 84 f-150 4x4 stepside with a 302 for 500$ bought this truck as a farm/fun truck I noticed when I drove the truck home it was roaring loudly but I couldn't determine where it was coming from I have sense changed out the tires checked transfer case fluid and trans fluid and rear end I replaced the driver side rear axle seal and examined the rear end which is positive traction and the ring and pinion gear had some wear but nothing excessive no large chips or cut
The noise only becomes audible to me when your going about 35 mph
Any advise would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance

Roaring could be lots of things. Is it air, mechanical, maybe exhaust? Can you feel vibrations, shimmy? Certain gears? Over certain rpms?

I don't believe it's air mechanics or exaust system it's appears to be in second gear only when under constant acceleration id say about 2000 rpm but no shimmy or shake or vibration
Also has a slight jerk like slack somewhere in the drive train when your costing and let off the peddle and punch it

The jerk may be ujoints. Used to notice the rearview mirror vibrate when coasting in gear. If your mirror is pretty solid it should tell you if it vibrates.

The roar is difficult. Without being there i can only guess. Do you have a aftermarket air cleaner? Might be air flow. It is only 14" away through a piece of sheet metal. Could even be the ujoints being shot and the 2nd gear/rpm combo creates a harmonic vibration you can hear.

Hey sorry took so long to reply the service is awfull here and I checked joints look good I believe I have slack in my pinion gear.
The truck has a positive rearend but I don't believe it's stock the seals are not stock and the tag on the cover is not readable but it has 8.8 ring gear I believe and it also has s clips inside the rear all other rear end I have seen from these years have been different do you have any idea what kind of rear end this could be? I had to use a timken 473330 00000 oil seal for the wheel seals

As far as rear gear ratio ? No i couldnt tell you that one. As far as the rear axle its self, you you have a bolt on cover (which it sounds like you do) its a 8.8 axle. The ones that pull out of the front are 9 inch.
