rims
I bought my 86 f150 4x4 302 with a aod tranny a few monthsi ago . The tires were in horrible condition and i had to drive the truck about 70 miles home. On the way home i got a flat. My truck had to sit in a parking lot and ended up getting towed. I found some 16in rims with nice tires that have a 5x5.5 bolt pattern. Which is what i thought my truck had based on what i looked up. Well the rims are off by about a 16th of a in. The rims will fit onto the first 2 bolt holes but then the next 2 are off just a hair. Will i be ok just taking a reamer and taking just a bit off each hole? The rims are black steel cragers.

vertical pin buster
I had this something like this when I changed my wheel bearings. On my superduty. I reused my studs to save about 100 bucks on the unit and after I press them they was off by just a little bit I just put my lug nuts on and smacked them just enough to get the wheel on. Maybe you could leave the wheel off and run a acorn style lug nut on with a impact and it will align them back up.

are you confident on the 16's being 5 x 5.5?
earlyFords were 5 x 5.5
later like 2000-2003 are 5 x 135. they look like 5 x 5.5 but they are not the same size
just a thought

Currently im slow on work for the winter thats why i was going to drill the rims. I have a spare rim for my truck that i was going to cut and use as a template. But my wonderful girl came to the rescue and bought me a set of adapters to go from a 5x5.5 bolt pattern to the newer 5x135 pattern. They should be in by friday. I found them on ebay. http://m.ebay.com/itm/321583817810?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368
Ill post some pics of the truck with the new 16s on them and some comments on the adapters when i get them

well my adapters came last week or so. quality wise they don't seem too bad. i didnt expect alot when i saw the price but i am fairly satisfied. also with only being a inch wide it pushed the tires out slightly but still keeps them under the arch which is nice. the 235 85 16 tires filled the wheel wells nicely. installation was very easy. as long as you know how to change a tire and use a cut off wheel you will be fine.
remove your old wheel and then replace the lug nuts with the ones supplied with the adapters. putting them on before you cut the studs makes it easy to make sure that none of the threads are messed up where you cut. for the 1 inch adapters all that is really needed to be cut off the studs is the non threaded part. remove the lug nuts and then place adapter on the studs. use a flat edge to run over the cut studs to make sure they will not interfear with mounting the rims flush. torque to 85ft pounds reinstall your rims and your good to go. i do have pictures but my computer isnt letting me post them right now
