Default New exhaust on 82

Ok guess, I bought a 82 F150 with the 351W this past weekend. It has headers with true duals, glasspacks and pipes out the back.

I don't care for the sound or the true duals. I'm thinking buy a ypipe for after the headers, then into single 2.5 or 3" si/so muffler.

What would you guys go with between the 2.5 or 3"? Mildly built 351 with a slightly bigger cam, nothing crazy. 600 edelbrock up top.

Thanks

If your gonna Y pipe it just run 2 1/2 out in front of the back tire. Always a great sound but not so loud that it's all you ever hear. You'll still hear the cam chop. Get a little crackle in the top end and a nice low rumble at idle and cursing

I thought about that, good look too. Probably gonna go with single chamber muffler. I've had them before and really liked them. Hopefully going with the y and single outlet gives me some more bottom end

Probably gain a little. Youll probably have to re tune the carb tho.

That would work fine. What are you looking at for a muffler. Also I'd put my muffler about a foot after the Y pipe so you get good equalization off the headers

Most likely a single chamber, cherry bomb is a better price than FM. Thought about staying with glasspack, but I don't think it'll be deep enough

The longer the glass pack the deeper the rumble . Just remember glass packs get louder over time. Your going to weld the néw exhaust right?
