Default new engine old truck

hey guys, i am toying with the idea of finding an early 80s f250 and putting a new style powerstroke turbo diesel in her.. anyone done this? what would be the extent of a swap like this?

The electronics alone would be a major undertaking.

it can be done and has been done but the electronics yes would be a major thing but not so much if you have a donor vehicle for parts. I definitely think the swap would be neat..

Unless you intend to change the frame too it's not really practical. A gas engine frame will not take the vibration and harmonics of a diesel. Micro fractures will happen and eventually frame failure. Diesel frames are made from more resilient metals.
