Not an engineer to know the difference maybe push rod lengths or rocker arm style. Just something to think about.
The lifters I put in it the first time around were aftermarkets. The only thing off of the 69 is the intake. I wanted one with out all of the crap for emissions. The lifters I got are from a similar truck that was rebuilt not to long ago, so hopefully they will work out.

I made them, lol. Took the old ones and ground the knob and neck down flush. Got some cabinet knobs that I liked the look of and fabbed them to fit with some nylon spacers to cut down on friction and a shorter bolt. I really am happy with the way they came out.

Alright, Update! Bought a Holley 4 barrel, edlebrock intake manifold and put those on. Got a new wire harness for under the hood (mine was melted bad). Got a set of long tube headers waiting to be put on. Removed all emissions related items that I can till I get the headers on. Took out the gauge cluster and put in red lights and started sprucing up the interior. I will be taking it to a transmission shop to get the TV rod adjusted since I have been unsuccessful at it. Pics to come.

Nice diy handles. How did that headliner turn out?

What? All the blue paint from your valve covers get sucked off by that new intake? jk

Keep up the work and updates. Don't forget the pics.

Forgot to mention a few things. Got a new set of lifters and rods from summit and went ahead and replaced those as well. Working on my gauge cluster at the moment. I have an odd sense of inspiration for this truck. Its going to look evil. I did the gauge cluster with red needles, red back lights, and painted the interior portion to where it looks like it has been on fire. Will get some pics when its in.

Down the road I'm going to convert the interior to a black with dye and spray or swapping out, getting the exterior painted a stain black, getting red demon eyes headlights, blacking out all of the exterior lights, and doing a good bit of interior red accents and accent lights. Project title: Going Bad.

But first, getting the damn rod adjusted.

My 1984 gauge cluster looks like this...

Looking good, I like the valve covers. Glad to have another '84 around.

I don't remember if you mentioned it but how much did you pay for yours? From what it sounds like in your first post it shoulda been close to free.

I traded a house sterio for mine... it was a kick ass sterio but its a kick ass truck.

When I got it, I traded an AK47 rifle for it. I paid around $400 for the AK. When I got it, it ran but ran rough and would not shift out of first gear. I have big plans for this truck, its just taking a while to do. I was expecting to just throw another transmission in it and go, but such was not the case. Once I get the transmission working properly or swapped, it will be driven daily.

With all of the engine stuff I have done, it runs and cranks great. Has a nice little rumble and I can't wait to open her up.

My inspiration for this truck is "Going Bad".
Its going to be be black on black on black with red accent lights.
I will get some more updated pics shortly.

I am going to have to edit what I have done so far in the first few posts. lol.

I'd like to drive mine everyday but for some reason it gets like 7-8 miles per gallon and around here gas is almost $2.70 a gallon. You gotta have deep pockets to feed a girl like that. That and I need to do a brake line to pass NH. state inspection.

My stereo was a Sony Head unit, Sony dual cassette deck, Sony 5 disc changer, JBL center channel, a pair of 6" Pro-Studio rear speakers in seprate carpeted enclosures, and the twin towers... two carpeted 5 foot tall tower speakers with a 6x9 horn at the top, a 6" round, a 6" bass port, and 15" subwoofer at the bottom of each. It would blow your roof right off your house!! It was originally purchased in 1998 for $1700. I traded it for my truck on craigslist last July (they wanted $2900 obo for the truck).
