Default Motor swap

Have a 1984 f150 with the 4.9 inline six but I'm swapping it out for a 302... How hard is this? And is there anything surprises that I might come across? And which motor mounts should I use

I am about to do the same thing for mine. I have a 1985 F150 with the straight six and I using mine for a mud racing truck. For now it will stay in the stock class so 302 will work for now. Eventually I will put a bigger motor in it. I am not a good mechanic but I can fix things if someone shows me but my neighbor is a great mechanic and he is going to help me with mine. It should be a pretty simple swap. I don't know if you have done yours already but I will try to get some info and pics on what is needed and any special tricks. I am sure a lot of people could chime in. Good luck!

should be pretty straight forward as far as swaps go, biggest thing is u will need the 302 perches for the 80-86 model year and i dont think you have the feedback carb, but if you do you will need to do the full ds2 conversion

Ok yeah I'm in the middle of doing it now i think I need the perches that mount to the front crossmember I have the 302 motor mounts but it still looks like the motor is sitting to far forward y'all wouldn't know if the transmission has to be relocated closer to the front?

I'm thinking about doing this as well in my '86 but now that i just found out my tranny is a TOD i'm not sure it can hold up if i put a crate 302/306 on it (300 HP/336 Torque) which is kind of a big jump from my 300 which only has 122 HP 266 torque, well that's what it was in 1986.. And im also not 100% if the TOD is compatible with a 302/306 i have a feeling if i do this and the first time i put my foot to the floor i'm going to rip the tranny a new one.

Yeah I can't help you there I have a c4 but I've been doing research and it sounds like I'm going to need engine perches that mount to the crossmember and of course 302 motor mounts in order for it to work n I'm still not sure if the transmission crossmember is going to need to be relocated closer to the motor
