how to replace speedometer cable?
#2
Depending on the year model, you either unscrew the cable from the back of the speedo or there is a fitting that you squeeze together and it pops off. Once the cable is loose from the head unit, simply pull out the cable that is giving you problems and replace it with a new one or if the needle is just bouncing, grease the old cable with white grease and reinstall it. Before hooking it back up to the speedo, make sure it is seated in the gear on the bottom by turning it until you feel it lock in place. If it's broken, I'd suggest replacing the entire unit which requires pulling it off of the transmission and threading a new one thru the firewall....which isn't fun but can be done.
