How can I figure out what rear is in my friends 1986 F150? I have the vin and the axle code numbers can the rear ratio be determined from those numbers? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks, John

Thanks, but it has a 351 with 4 spd and he thinks it has a 9" rear and the axle code is H 6.

Thanks for your input I finally found out what it is and it's a 3:50. If you need to know any axle codes I now have them or you can go to Ford off road .com and they have a chart. Thanks again for trying to help.
