Got a 74' F100 that wont fire
I was given this truck with a 240 v6 2wd. I live in Duluth MN and it's in Sisseston SD so working on it is sparse. Granted the newly rebuilt carb still seems to have a clogged jet, the engine still won't fire at all even with a shot of starter fluid. I've since taken the head and carb off and brought it to Duluth to work on, but I'm rather clueless as to why I don't even get a backfire.
The first time we worked on it we had it running until our little gas cup ran out, then after discovered a nest that had held the choke plate open. We removed the nest and tried starting it, we'd get backfires and flames out the carb. One backfire was massive, thought somebody fired a magnum rifle.
I'm looking for guidance for my next trip out there. Plugs, wires, cap/rotor, points, and coil were replaced.

Any history about the truck? With no start even using starting fluid, I look toward ignition, it should do something when sprayed with fluid. Backfiring in the intake pushes me towards timing. Valve timing or even crossed wires to the plugs. Need a little more input.

We have spark last I remember, I really doubt we had mixed up the wires. This truck has sat for a while. It was Sold to some people then just brought back because of some issue I've haven't learned of yet.
