Default Factory wheel color

Okay so I've had my '83 F150 4x4 for about 11 years and it's been in the family for about 25 but the truck never had stock wheels. I want to put the truck back original but I don't know what color the steel wheels would be. I know on my 1970 they were white but what about in '83? Also did all these trucks come with hubcaps? What would've been on a base model? On the original order paperwork for the truck it only has 3 options: 4x4, sliding back glass, Chrome rear step bumper: but it says nothing about wheels. It does say multi-turf tires though, whatever those would have been. Right now I run spoked wheels I got off an '86 and they look okay, just not original. I have an '86 XL truck that has steel wheels but they're silver, not white, but that truck has full hubcaps. There were so many choices back then I just don't know where to start on bringing my truck back to factory correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the info. I was sort of hoping they had options for wheel color. I can't imagine white wheels on a Raven black truck but if that's the way it came that'll work. I do remember that at one time the truck had white letters on the tailgate so maybe that would've tied in to the white wheels.

It will be awhile before I paint and make the outside look factory but that is the goal. Dark Blue, white letters on the gate and white wheels.

If I had the money though I would swap the rims and put some Aluminum Mags or Ram Moto.

The second photo you have shows the style hubcap I have and my rims are black, with some rust

My '86 with the full hubcaps looks like this underneath them.

Silver, like the '86 spoked wheels were before I painted them black to put on my '83. I did have a '83 2wd that came factory with white spoked wheels with black plastic center caps but I would've thought they were definitely an option. This is what I have to go off of. The paper where the truck was ordered and the window sticker but no mention of wheels, so what came on a base model 4wd?

80-86 : F100-F150 = Black
80-86 : F250-F350 = Grey

Hey thanks for the info. The black wheels will definitely match the truck better. Any ideas on base model wheel trim? No hubcaps, dog dish hubcaps, or full wheel covers?

Wow, thanks for the information. The more I learn the more confused I get. So my truck would've come with the white spoked wheels and black plastic center caps?
