Yep, that hose looks pretty bad. The one right next to it goin to the transmission looks like it's rubbing on something too.
Yeah I knew that, but is that ok? Don't want it to melt on me. I live in minnesota so definitely keeping it. Is that bad hose for fuel or vaccum?

It's a vent tube for the float bowl. I think it goes to the charcoal canister and back to the carb. Likely under vacuum because it sucks off the gas fumes.

So that might be the problem then? I sure hope it is.

One thing I forgot to mention is that when the truck is warm it doesnt happen as much. Today I warmed it up a bit while I was doing other things and it didnt happen. Strangely though, at a stop light i was idling in drive, and when i started to go giving it some gas it sputtered. Then i let it roll a few feet and then gave it more gas and away I went. Told the guys at oreillys and they thought it might be something with the carb. As far as I know it has never been rebuilt

Flooding or choking while accelerating usually means the accelerator pump needs adjusted. Vacuum leaks tend to magically disappear when the engine is warm. The cold shrinks the rubber and makes it stiffer. The heat makes it swell and flex sealing the leak temporarily.

I agree with Braggs, vacuum leaks can be some of the hardest to find and simplest to fix. Your stumble at the red light sounds like the accelerator pump, easy fix (only 4 screws) after you remove the carburetor and look underneath next to where the throttle linkage is connected and if you are going that far you might as well change both gaskets (upper and lower) on the adapter plate (will also fix the vacuum leak if that is where it is). Here are two ebay links for the gaskets I was talking about. First one is intake to spacer 2nd is spacer to carb

Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. Is there any way to adjust the accelerator pump with the carb on? I guess if not im bringing it to a guy i know. Take a look at this. This hose is not connected to anything. Got any idea where it goes?

First is where my jack is stored (between battery and blower on right finder[round hole above my jack is the one behind your starter solenoid]). Second as near as I can tell the line in question should loop like the one over my choke. Or it could be one that plugs into the bottom of the stock air filter housing. Hope this helps.
