Default Dual Tank Reservoir

Hey Everyone,

I have an 86 F150 with the 302 EFI i bought off a guy not to long back. It has the dual tanks underneath it but the guy who had it before me cut out the reservoir and ran the fuel line from the low pressure pump to the high pressure pump then under the hood. I was wondering if the reservoir is an important peice to have in the line or if there is any way to hook up the other tank without it?

Thanks For Your Help

The reservoir keeps the high pressure pump supplied with a constant supply of fuel. If it runs dry it may burn up. On this and similiar years it also has the switching mechanism that selects between the tanks, and also controls which tank receives the returned fuel.
