Default Difficulties pumping gas in my 76 F100

I'm hoping someone out there has come across this problem before and might have a solution.

I purchased a 1976 F100 Custom about a week ago and I've come across stupid problem to be having. I cant for the life of me figure out how to pump gas into it at anything less than quarter pressure. My thought is the gas nozzle on the newer style pump handles is shorter and the flap in the filler neck is too deep. If I even think of trying to pump the gas at full flow it backs up and spits it all over the ground.

It does not matter what angle I put nozzle in, it wont fill properly. Any thoughts or ideas on a fix?

my 68 tbird is the same way...the filler neck is clear and no obstructions so just the nature of the beast..i know all about the overflow problem..these newer pumps have a lot higher flow rate so that can cause the problem

My 84 F150 is the SAME way! No matter how I angle the pump it just overflows. It takes me 30 minutes to fill a 20 gallon tank. No idea what the problem is. If you fix it, let me know how u did it. You are not alone with this problem

My 85 bronco done that. I replaced the filler neck hose. Is the tank in the cab or under the bed?.

My tank is under the bed of the truck. I think I'm going to try replacing the filler neck. I found fillernecksupply.com which has a filler neck that fits my truck but does not have the small port and valve. When I make the upgrade I'll let everyone know how it works.
