I have a 1972 f100 302 3 speed. When i got it it had lots of power its had a full 3 inch exhaust with straight pipes installed a 4 barrel intake and carb a hei distributor but one day i went to drive it and it seems as to have lost 50% of the power it doesnt run bad it just doesnt accelerate or run top speed any more. It will only run 40 wide open and the max rpm is 3000
when before you could race it up as
much as you wanted and the truck
would run every bit of 120. It races up real slow in neutral to...ive changed the fuel filters and checked the timing all that is good also the carb is clean i was thinking maybe a bad fuel pump

When you push the gas pedal down is it allowing the carburetor to open fully? In other words is the linkage from the gas pedal to the carburetor fully operational? Just something to check.

By saying 3 speed, i assume it's manual. I would be looking at the accelerator pump (carb). You did not mention if the carb was new, rebuilt, etc.

+1 on the throttle leakage. Also has anything happens lately that could have turned the distributor?
