This is one time you go straight to your local off the shelf parts store and get it. The generic one is basically the only one there is. It's so straightforward none of the companies like Holley and Edelbrock could make it fancy enough to jack the price up.

Try this before you convert to a manual choke.

I'll assume you have a Ford 2 bbl (model 2150). With the engine cold (air cleaner housing removed), press down/let up on the gas pedal. The butterfly should close all the way.

The purpose of the choke pull off is to open the butterfly just enough to let enough air in so the engine will run until the engine warms up and the butterfly fully opens.

Vacuum is applied to the choke pull off whenever the engine is running. It only performs its duty when the engine is cold.

If you have the Ford 2 bbl carb I can tell you how to check the choke pull off, and how to adjust the fast idle with a warm engine.

If you use a vacuum gauge to adjust the carb, you adjust the idle mixture screws, not the idle screw, for the highest vacuum. I can provide instructions on that, too.

I'd like to see you do a write-up on that as it would help forum members now and in the future...possible sticky?

I'd be more than happy to do that, but I'll need a donor 2150 carb. If you have one that needs rebuilding, I will use it for the write up.

I will donate my labor, you supply the carb kit and shipping both ways, and reimburse me for a few spray cans of carb cleaner.

I thought you were offering to explain or instruct...maybe a mis-understanding on my part. For those costs all in, the OP could simply buy a reman out of Florida for $175.00 (without a core) and be done with it.

When you said write up I thought you were talking about a complete carb rebuild for future reference by members.
My apologies.
Let me find some appropriate pictures on the net, and I'll get back with how to check the choke oull off.

i installed the manual choke about a week ago. My original choke must have been slowly dying because once I installed the manual choke and made sure it worked nice and easy, its a different truck!

The thing always started great, now it starts easy and pulls much harder. I think that mine was slowly dying and then just gave up. Since it was a slow decline i didnt really notice it that much till it failed.

New fuel filter and air filter new choke and this is awesome! No more lugging in 4th, climbs hills with ease.

I thought it was great before, now, just WOW!!!
