Did you disassemble the choke also? If you did, when you put it back
together you might have it set too rich.

If you can't work it out,you can always install a manual choke.

Any more when I'm tearing something down,I grab a digital camera
or use my cell phone camera. That has saved my butt many times.

No I didn't take the choke apart because it was working good pre-rebuild and didn't want to screw it up. Somehow I ended up doing just that. hehe

I did take a pic but not of the linkage.

I tried different ways but could only get it to hook together one way so I figured it was right. Maybe not though.

Not sure why but when I tried driving it today (with choke open) it was really good until I punched the accelerator pedal and it stuck to floor. Scared the crap outta me.

I shut the truck off and coasted to a stop in neutral. Got out and pulled the throttle shaft in the front bottom of the carb cuz it was stuck wide open. Got in and drove again...did the same thing.

So, I parked it and I'm gonna have to pull the carb and check out why its binding...and try fix choke while its off. Don't mind putting a manual choke on it but if I'm taking it off again...may as well try fix it.

Are you sure that wasn't a Toyota carb. kit. Lol
Have you looked in a Haynes manual,it may show a setup like yours,
or maybe do a google search.

Did you by chance move or change the choke set screw, it will make a difference in how the thing opens and closes and is your electric choke assist in the correct position. If you want to try a google search on a pdf for a ford 2100 carb,( for exaMPLE) I downloaded two files and the pictures were a help And both came from a jeep forum. Hope thats a help.

lol..the toyota carb kit could explain my problem. I think its the mechanic (me) thats the problem.

I pulled it today and took it to a friend of mine that was a mechanic at Ford for lots of years. He set the electric choke on the bench and tested it with a battery and it slowly opened.

Put it on my truck. Still won't open! So I guess I'll check for power at the wire to the choke.

That doesn't work and I'm trading this truck for a chev! Just kiddin

Just an update...truck is running great!! Found my wire to choke was dead. Hooked up a new wire and works good. Just going to make some adjustments and set timing and problem solved.

Thanks for the help over the past couple weeks guys
