Default Brake Failure

I own a 1979 Ford F150 Ranger XLT. It has a 460 ci, automatic. Back in the spring, I replaced the brake master cylinder due to not having any brake pressure. Now, after driving the truck since then, I do not have any brake pressure again. Could this possibly be the master cylinder again?

Regards,

Jim

Need to clarify some questions. Please describe no brake pressure again? Does pedal go all the way to floor? Is the master cylinder still full of fluid? Any signs of leakage at each wheel? Lets start there.

Bill,

Here is what I have done so far:
  • Installed new brakes, wheel cylinders and lines on the rear.
  • Bled the brakes.
  • Master cylinder is full.
  • Pump the brakes, can get a good pedal, but when you let go of the pedal and push again, it goes to the floor.
What do you think?

Sounds like we still have air in the system. During this brake work was the master cylinder replaced at this time or prior? Did it get low on fluid during the bleeding procedure?

Apparently, one of the rear wheel cylinders went bad, draining the line and the reservoir was empty. My step-son drove it like that for some time without letting me know.

Nice, huh?
