Borg Warner T5 Swap for 1984 F150
Hello! I'm new here, I was recommended to do a Borg Warner T-5 swap.
I have a 1984 F150 with 3" lift, General Grabbers (33 x 12.5), 302 cammed up with an aftermarket intake manifold and a Holley 600CFM 4bbl. It's also 4x4.
It has a hard time accelerating up hills in 4th gear (I have a 4-on-the-floor with a Granny 1st) even when it's at 2,000 RPMs.
I talked about this all on Reddit, and I got a lot of people telling me that my Carb is too big, that my 4th gear is an overdrive and isn't meant to accelerate up hills. I just find it strange that in 2nd and 3rd it accelerates just fine. I don't like climbing up hills at 55mph spinning at 4,000 RPM because it won't climb the hill in 4th.
I also got a suggestion that I swap in a Borg Warner T-5. I loved that transmission in my '95 Mustang and would love it in my truck.
